Copper Nickel Pipes and Tubes | Cupro Nickel Pipes and Tubes Cupro Nickel Tubes 90/10 This form of cupro nickel tubes produced by Tube Tech possess excellent resistance to corrosion by sea water as well as high resistance to erosion corrosion and air-impingement attack. The addition of iron results in 90/10 performing as good as 70/30 in salt water service heat exchangers. These tubes have good strength and ductility at ordinary temperatures and relatively high strength and other mechanical properties at elevated temperatures. These cupro nickel tubes are widely used in condensers, coolers and heat exchangers where resistance to corrosion and erosion is paramount, yet maintaining a high thermal conductivity rate. To be used preferably in marine conditions. Forms a protective film which is multi-layered in flowing seawater. Resists marine bifouling. These cupro nickel tubes are produced in a range of outside diameter, wall thickness various temper conditions to achieve the required mechanical properties and grain size. The mechanical and dimensional characteristics of our products satisfy the most demanding orders that require tight tolerances. Cupro Nickel Tubes 70/30 Prosaic Steel supplies smooth bore 70/30 cupro nickel tubes of the highest standard, rigorously tested to make sure they are suitable for the exacting requirement of condensers and heat exchangers. Kupfer war seit den frühen Tagen nachgewiesen worden, viele gute Eigenschaften zu haben. Das Produkt entspricht ASTM B466 (American Society for Testing and Materials), das Abmessungen, Zugfestigkeit und Ertragsfestigkeit spezifiziert. Formbarkeit und interne Sauberkeit entsprechen den Spezifikationen SAE J527, ASTM A254 und SMMT C5B (Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders). Außerdem erfüllt die Legierung den Anforderungen an Druckeindämmung, Herstellung und Korrosionsbeständigkeit für ISO 4038 (International Standards Organization) und SAE J1047.

Die Legierung C70600 wird normalerweise als neu gezeichnete Schläuche im getemperten Zustand geliefert. Die Kombination aus Stärke und guter Duktilität verleiht hervorragende Formbarkeitsfähigkeit.
Da Kupfer-Nickel weicher ist als Stahl, wurde zunächst befürchtet, dass sich die Schwäche ein Problem darstellen könnte. Die Erfahrung hat gezeigt, dass dies nicht der Fall ist.
Korrosionsbeständigkeit
Viele Jahre vor seiner Anwendung als Bremsrohre -Material wurden Legierung C70600 in Schiffen, Kraftwerkskondensatoren und Hydrauliklinien auf Tankern verwendet und zeigte eine hervorragende Beständigkeit gegen Kochsalzlösung. Frühe Tests zeigten, dass Kupfer-Nickel fast den gleichen Widerstand gegen Burst-Druck wie Stahl aufweist. Bei der Prüfung, wenn sie jedoch über 180 Tage Salzspray ausgesetzt ist, nimmt die Stahlburstfestigkeit erheblich ab. Die Kupferlegierung bleibt konsequent resistent.
Bei Röhrchen, die sechs Monate lang mit feuchten, salzigen Schlammverpackungen bedeckt waren, war der Lötstahl stark korrodiert, was zur Perforation der Schlauchwand führte. Während im Kupfer-Nickel-Schlauch nur oberflächliche allgemeine Korrosion gefunden wurde. ISO 4038 und SAE J1047 enthalten eine Korrosionswiderstandsanforderung, die sich auf ISO 3768 bezieht, in dem nach 96 Stunden im neutralen Salzspray einen minimalen Burstdruck von 110 MPa gebeten wird. Zu den schwedischen Anforderungen gehören ein Widerstand mindestens 25 Zink. In allen Fällen übersteigt Legierung C70600 leicht den erforderlichen Korrosionswiderstand.

The Move To Copper-Nickel Tubing
Copper had been proved since the early days to have many good attributes. It was easy to bend and had very high corrosion resistance, but there was concern about its low corrosion-fatigue strength. When copper-nickel was introduced, it displayed corrosion resistance similar to copper, higher general strength and better fatigue strength. Good formability allows ease of flaring and bending, and although the metal cost is greater than that of steel alternatives, copper-nickel is very attractive in view of its extra life, trouble-free installation and safety/reliability characteristics.
Properties of Copper-Nickel Brake Tubing
The copper-nickel alloy used for brake tubing typically contains 10% nickel, with iron and manganese additions of 1.4% and 0.8% respectively. The product conforms to ASTM B466 (American Society for Testing and Materials), which specifies dimensions, tensile strength and yield strength. Formability and internal cleanliness conform to specifications SAE J527, ASTM A254 and SMMT C5B (Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders). Alloy C70600 is normally supplied as redrawn tubing in the annealed condition. The combination of strength and good ductility give excellent formability.
As copper-nickel is softer than steel, it was first feared that fretting might be a problem. Experience has shown this is not the case.
Corrosion Resistance
For many years prior to its application as a brake tubing material, alloy C70600 had been used in ships, power station condensers and hydraulic lines on tankers, and had displayed excellent resistance to saline conditions. Early tests revealed that copper-nickel has almost the same resistance to burst pressure as steel. In testing, however, when exposed to salt spray over 180 days, steel's burst strength decreases significantly. The copper alloy remains consistently resistant.
For tubes covered with a moist, salty mudpack for six months, brazed steel was severely corroded resulting in perforation of the tubing wall; whereas, only superficial general corrosion was found on the copper-nickel tubing. ISO 4038 and SAE J1047 include a corrosion resistance requirement referring to ISO 3768 asking for a minimum burst pressure of 110 MPa after 96 hours in neutral salt spray. Swedish requirements include a resistance at least equal to 25 of zinc. In all cases alloy C70600 easily exceeds the required corrosion resistance.
